$A$ と $B$ を集合としたとき，集合 $A$ の要素（元）$a$ と集合 $B$ にの要素（元）$b$ の組（順序対）\[\langle a,b \rangle\]を全て集めた集合 set を集合 $A$ と集合 $B$ の直積 direct product といい，\[A \times B = \lbrace\langle a,b \rangle | a \in A,b \in B \rbrace\]と表します．
